4 Simple Salad Dressings

To me, summer is all about grilled meat and cold salads. Not only do I love both meat and salad, but I also LOVE that it's very little work for me during the "witching hour" (moms, you know what I am talking about.) While I can barbeque no problem, my husband has always taken over this job, which makes this mama as relaxed as dinner itself.

These 4 Simple Salad Dressings are perfect for summer; they will give your salad the flavour kick it needs without kicking your butt in the kitchen.

An added bonus to these four dressings is that they are all dairy-free and sugar-free, plus contain no harmful polyunsaturated oils! Whether you use olive oil or avocado oil is based on your own personal taste preferences.

Basic Dressing

*Inspired by the simple (and my favourite) dressing my grandparents would occasionally make

Put all ingredients into a mason jar and shake or use a bowl and whisk.

Caesar Dressing

*My mother-in-law's recipe; sorry if she stole it from you! :)

In a blender (or use a bowl and immersion blender):

  1. Blend oil and garlic for a few seconds
  2. Add worcestershire, salt, pepper and egg
  3. Blend until thick and creamy (if it doesn't get thick, try adding an extra egg yolk)
  4. Stir in lemon juice

Honey Mustard Dressing

Put all ingredients into a mason jar and shake or use a bowl and whisk. If you want a smoother, creamier dressing, use a blender.

This recipe is also delicious used as a cabbage coleslaw dressing!

Avocado Cilantro Dressing

*Recipe directly from DishinandDishes.com

  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup of honey
  • 3 tbsp of lime juice
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1/4 cup of cilantro
  • 1/2 small jalapeno (I don't use)
  • 1/4 cup (or more) of water
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Blend all ingredients in a blender, adding extra water if needed for desired consistency.

There you have it! Four simple salad dressings you can add to your summer meal plan!

I have some more dressing recipes coming for your fall and winter salads too, so stay tuned :)
